Falling into Stagnant Water
Interpreters have stated that falling into stagnant water may signify imprisonment and sorrow. The interpretations of water vary according to its characteristics: salty water represents sorrow, black water might indicate marriage to an unworthy woman, or the ruin of homes and loss of sight if drunk. Stagnant (malodorous) water symbolizes a difficult life, foul-smelling water indicates illicit money, and yellow water signifies illness. The drying up of water may be interpreted as dismissal, humiliation, and loss of blessings, while using very hot water might forebode hardship from the ruler or fright from jinn. Turbid water signifies difficulty, fatigue, and illness, and water foam represents undesirable wealth.
