The Shirt

Scholars have said that a shirt represents the wearer's religious state, earnings, and livelihood; any increase or decrease in it reflects their condition. A shirt without sleeves may indicate good religious standing but a lack of wealth and inability to work, while a torn pocket signifies poverty. Many shirts symbolize abundant good deeds, and a white shirt represents religion and goodness. A new shirt for a woman indicates a good state for her and her husband in religion and worldly matters. The Prophet (PBUH) generally interpreted it as 'religion'.
