Suspended Loaf
Interpreters mention that seeing a loaf suspended on one's forehead indicates poverty. Abundant, hardened bread (al-mutakarraj) refers to ample wealth that does not benefit its owner and for which zakat is not paid. As for "mill bread" (khabr al-millah), it may signify hardship in livelihood for its eater, as it is only baked out of necessity.
