Nisab

The minimum threshold of wealth a Muslim must own before zakat becomes obligatory, traditionally calculated against the value of gold or silver. Scholars differ on which standard to use, with many contemporary scholars favoring the lower silver standard for cash zakat, as it benefits more of the poor. If your qualifying savings fall below the nisab, you are not required to pay zakat that year.
