The Cap

Scholars have said that seeing a cap (qalansuwa) may indicate assuming leadership positions and governorships, or a change in the leader's situation. It might also point to committed sins if it is dirty, and for a woman, it signifies marriage if she is single, or giving birth to a boy if pregnant. Its interpretation varies based on its material and color; a sable or squirrel cap may indicate an oppressive leader or corruption in religion or trade, while wool signifies righteousness, and a black cap suggests high status and judicial appointment.
